3 Top Tips for a Great Resistance Workout

Resistance training is an essential part of any workout, and by lifting weights you can help to build muscle, improve your cardiovascular system and burn calories.  Here are 3 top tips for a great resistance workout.

1. Diet – to maximise any weight training session make sure your muscles have the stamina they need to keep working by eating a balanced healthy diet that is high in complex carbs such as pasta, rice and potatoes.  These provide your body with slow release glycogen, which makes your muscles feel strong and responsive, and avoid refined sugars, as although these makes you feel more active to start with, the effects soon wear off and you quickly experience an energy slump which can inhibit your fitness training.

2. Stretch – make sure you warm up before starting any weights training with a few gentle stretches, as this helps to avoid strains and injuries.

3. Hydration – make sure you take short breaks between sets of reps, and use this time to have a few sips of water, which will keep your body hydrated and your mind focused.
